KS2 Spring concert

“What a concert! It is important to remember that no pupil was over the age of 11 and yet they all delivered confident and polished performances of a wide range of repertoire, styles and composers to the delight of everyone in the Senior School Hall. The girls were inspirational in their appreciation of each other, their teamwork across year groups and instrumental mixes, and their dedication to individual instrumental practising and memorising song lyrics is astonishing. The girls treated their audience to the most wonderful concert to celebrate the end of term.

As ever, the warmth and appreciation of the audience showed the depth of support for all the KS2 girls. I have no doubt that our audience wished they were playing and singing too! From Raining Djembes to train-themed singing, via some ABBA, the most serene Chamber Strings, to the fabulously rhythmic Hungarian Dance with the whole String Orchestra, the range of talent on display was superb. My thanks go to everyone involved in making this year’s KS2 Spring Concert so memorable.

In true GHS style, we ended with our Grand Finale – A Million Dreams! The excitement was written all over the girls’ faces – from the massed choir on the staging and the band on the floor, the anticipation of the first notes gave the audience tingles. The girls loved seeing the torches during their encore and enjoyed performing together as a large group under the calm eye of Miss Kimber. Without the outstanding musicianship of the ensemble directors and their endless dedication and enthusiasm each week in coaching the girls, concerts like this are not possible. Of course, my most heartfelt thank you is to the girls – you really are exceptional!”
