KS2 Inter-house Music Festival
We are privileged to hear the girls share their love of music on many occasions through the school year, but the annual feast which the Inter-House Music Festival serves is quite simply magical. To perform to your peers in class requires bravery as well as confidence; to perform to an external adjudicator and a Hall full of parents is another level, often requiring butterflies to be controlled!
Pianists, String, Woodwind, Brass players – every orchestral instrument was on display; but a very exciting addition this year was the Percussion class! 5 confident drumkit players wowed their audience with their confident performances to backing tracks – we all wanted to dance and sing along with them! Mr Patterson had an incredibly tough job of choosing winners but took the time to make note of highly commended performances too – celebrating more girls, to their delight!
Solos on many instruments were exciting to hear as the girls play such an exciting range. But the ensembles’ class was, as always, eagerly anticipated and did not fail to impress! The Year 3 singing performances were outstanding. Each performance was a winner given the volume of applause from the whole of KS2 who were in the Hall.
After 152 performances during the day, it was lovely to announce the winning House in Celebration Assembly: Watts overcame all the other Houses to win with a massive 470 points. It was a fabulous day – a real festival of music provided by every single performer. Congratulations to all the girls.
