Wildlife Week
Last week was Wildlife Week, and the entire school had a fabulous time celebrating wildlife and promoting biodiversity in as many ways as they could!
We had a visit from Surrey Badger Group who came in to give a talk about badgers, giving everyone the opportunity to learn some badger facts as well as do some badger-themed crafts. We also had some very interesting enrichment talks from staff – Mr James gave a talk about hedgehog conservation, and Mrs Howitt gave a talk about ‘Biodiversity Good News’.
Many students got involved in creative projects: DT students constructed bird feeders, and we had some flower-themed crafting sessions, such as spring wreath making and mini wildflower bouquet making. We also had a natural dye workshop where the students learned how to use flower dyes in textiles. Another highlight was the embroidery session, where students learned how to embroider a bee.
As well as all these exciting events, we got everyone involved by having lots of lessons outdoor this week (we are thankful for the good weather!) and the library had an exciting selection of books about biodiversity.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to an amazing Wildlife Week!
