Electric Car Race

Students from our Green Power Team had an exhilarating day yesterday at Mallory Park Racing Circuit, where they raced their electric car for the first time!

After lots of hard work assembling the vehicle, the ‘GHS Hummingbird’ finally had its debut track day. The eleven-strong GHS team was made up of students from Years 7, 8 and 9.

The students communicated amazingly throughout the day, making sure to carefully plan pit changes, record lap times, and perform mechanical tweaks throughout the two races they competed in. Following a full team debrief, everyone is excited to make new improvements to the car – further gear changes will be made to increase their lap time along with design and manufacturing tweaks to enhance the car’s aerodynamics.

The team cannot wait for the next race on the 8th June, where the GHS Hummingbird will be better than ever!
