Year 7 Visit to Verulamium
On Thursday 26 June, Year 7 enjoyed a wonderful day exploring the Verulamium Museum and Roman Theatre in St Albans. Verulamium was the third largest city in Roman Britain and one of the settlements that was sacked and burned by Boudicca in 61 AD. The museum was brimming with artefacts and information about life in Roman Britain; the girls uncovered a range of artefacts, from 2000-year-old tweezers to necklaces, rings and coins. They also attended an artefact handling session, during which they were able to pick up and decipher some of these objects more fully and think about the types of Romans who might have used them. The girls then visited the remains of a Roman villa, complete with hypocaust and mosaic, before finally completing a tour of the Roman theatre.
