Sheffield Springs Visit

In early November, GHS was delighted to host pupils and teachers from Sheffield Springs Academy, which is part of United Learning. The pupils were allocated peer mentors, whom they shadowed around the school, participating in lessons, assembly and extra-curricular activities. The two groups of girls also spent an evening together, swapping stories and later email addresses. I know the GHS pupils were very touched to receive personal cards from the Sheffield students, who were very grateful for the warm welcome shown to them by all our girls, during their stay. The teachers from Sheffield were also full of ideas gleaned from their observations of lessons, which they were keen to implement on their return. They were also full of praise for the confidence and courtesy with which GHS pupils conducted themselves, and impressed by the contributions heard in lessons.
We look forward to a possible return visit, to experience life with 'Our (New) Friends in the North’!
